'In a 2016 poll, one in 10 Britons claimed to have experienced the presence of an angel, while one in three remain convinced that they have a guardian angel. These are huge numbers and mean that, on some counts, angels are doing better than God.' In the secular, sceptical, post-Christian world of the West, continuing faith in angels is both anomaly and comfort. But what exactly are angels, and why have so many in different times and contexts around the globe believed in them? What is their history and role in the great faiths and beyond their walls? Are angels something real, a manifestation of divine concern? Or part of the poetry of religion? And can they continue to illuminate a deeper truth about human existence and the cosmos? These are not new questions. They have been asked over millennia, right up to the present day, as writer, journalist and broadcaster Peter Stanford explores in Angels, his latest investigation into the history, theology and cultural significance of religious ideas. 'There is no better navigator through the space in which art, culture and spirituality meet than Peter Stanford' Cole Moreton, Independent on Sunday

Norman Pugh is not a happy man. As if being made redundant isn't bad enough in itself, he's now unable to fulfil his wife's cherished ambition of going on holiday to Ibiza-certainly not this year... quite possibly not ever. And Mavis Pugh is not an understanding woman, given that her chief aims in life are continuing to rule her husband's sex life with a rod of iron (sometimes literally)... and spending two weeks in Ibiza. The explosive combination of these desires, thwarted or otherwise, has now resulted in the forcible eviction of Pugh from the marital home. And so he sits in the pub while he tries to summon up sufficient Dutch courage to go and chuck himself into the canal. But Pugh's problems have hardly begun. It transpires that he has been earmarked as a 'Major Benefactor of Mankind' by the Forward Planning Department of the Heavenly Host. And it is down to his guardian angel (Farrington Peasgood) to prevent Pugh's suicide at all costs. Peasgood knows that this will not be an easy task and finds he has no option but to call in a favour from The Other Side. The ensuing chaos and confusion will have you gasping for breath as this fast paced hilarious romp takes flight. Who knows where it will end. Whatever you expect the outcome to be...you will almost certainly be wrong. This is Peter Barrie's debut novel and will appeal to readers who like a book with more twists and turns than a coalition government at a Chubby Checker concert! It is funny, sexy and very, very wicked ... Warning: Adult content not suitable for under 18s

Visits from angels are powerful evidence of the great love God has for us. This book relates actual encounters people have had with angels during the early years of the church. the many appearances of angels shows that God maintains contact with those who love Him, and confirms that the gospel has been restored in these latter-days. and There Were Angels Among Them first explains the general nature of angels, including their duties, responsibilities, and why they come to see us. Subsequent chapters relate specific incidents where people have actually seen or heard and angel. Read documented accounts of angels coming to earth to heal the sick, protect people from danger, provide guidance and instruction, soothe the dying and comfort humans during trials. Other chapters relate incidents when angels have come to increase a person's faith, console those left behind when a loved one dies, assist mortals with temple work and have shown themselves during temple dedications. and There Were Angels Among Them adds a warm, spiritual dimension to historic church events and is a must-read for teachers, history lovers and those who simply want to learn more about why angels come to the earth.

“This prophecy was given by the Lord that the earth would know that mercy and His love endures and lives. May you eat of the fruit of His love as you read this book and perceive the reflection of His heart toward the world in this day and in this hour.” ~The Lord on His throne In the moments of these late hours of the earth, His mercy is rich in the power of love. He is a God rich in mercy. His richness has afforded him a Son. His Son was His prize possession, His medal of honor, His symbol of love to the earth. He taught His Son to ride above the earth, close to His heart until His final destination arrived. Clothed in white He sits seated next to the Father; The Worthy White Rider. In the fullness of His love for the earth He will ride again. In His love for mankind His necessary talents will be summoned, for He is the hope of the nations to the four corners of the earth; to touch the hearts of mankind and teach them to ride, victoriously. This is the end time prophecy of the worthy White Rider.” Recorded by C. L. Thomas

Father Thomas Garrity is a Catholic priest who unexpectedly comes face to face with a horrific demon. Through fate or demonic manipulation, he winds up substituting for a prison chaplain who mysteriously committed suicide and was counseling a serial killer condemned on death row. Garrity meets with the convict, who at first is mute, and then becomes all too talkative, claiming to be a demon. A naive Father Garrity assumes he is dealing with a schizophrenic. Truly possessed by the demon Furfur, the inmate begins his attack on Father Garrity. As all Catholic priests, Garrity is uneducated and unskilled at confronting the supernatural, much less a demon. This demon is intent on destroying Garity's faith in God through any means possible. The one problem is that this "inmate" will be executed in a week, so time is of the essence. At first Garrity thinks that he must only survive until the execution, but then finds he will become hunted afterward by a demon that will transfer to a whole new body. Furfur, a documented fallen angel taken from demonology, initially attempts to overwhelm Garrity with his knowledge and history. Failing, he escalates his efforts to violence, and eventually murders. Father Garrity, as all common parish priests, is inexperienced, but is desperate to defeat this demon, even though his path is crammed with obstacles. He is surrounded by non-believers and a Catholic organization that has created an impossible bureaucracy which frowns on the very mention of exorcism. The demon Furfur intends to deliver the soul of this convict to hell and then transfer himself to another person and continue to torment the priest. Father Garrity finds that Furfur, in documented demonology, ranks high in the hierarchy of hell and has 150,000 demons at his command. Although in prison, Furfur can torture the priest through hurting those close to him simply by using his legions. Father Garrity reaches out to the Vatican and eventually enlists the help of the official head Exorcist. He is also aided by an unofficial American exorcist. Their realization that the limited time until the execution is nowhere near adequate for an exorcism, makes for an unsolvable dilemma.
