Basics of the Biblical Greek is an entirely new, integrated approach to teaching and learning New Testament Greek. It makes learning Greek a natural process and shows from the very beginning how an understanding of Greek helps in understanding the New Testament. Basics of Biblical Greek: combines the best of the deductive and the inductive approaches, explains the basics of English grammar before teaching Greek grammar, uses from the very beginning parts of verses from the New Testament instead of 'made-up' exercises, includes at the beginning of every lesson a brief devotional, written by a well-known New Testament scholar, that demonstrates how the principles taught in the lesson apply directly to an understanding of the biblical text, is the most popular first-year Greek course used in colleges and seminaries today, comes with an interactive study aid CD-ROM, containing an eight-minute greeting from the author and the fun, helpful, and graphical vocabulary-memorizing program 'Learning the Basics of Biblical Greek' (runs on Power Mac and Windows 95), where you can hear Greek words pronounced and sung in more than 200 familiar hymns. The CD-ROM also contains the powerful Greek vocabulary-drilling programs Flashworks(TM) and Parseworks from Teknia Language Tools (runs on Macintosh and Windows 3.1 and 95). A separate workbook is also available. And complimentary teacher helps are located on the author's website (http://www.homeschooling.org).

For years, Vine’s Expository Dictionary has been the standard word study tool for pastors and laypeople, selling millions of copies. But sixty-plus years of scholarship have shed extensive new light on the use of biblical Greek and Hebrew, creating the need for a new, more accurate, more thorough dictionary of Bible words. William Mounce, whose Greek grammar has been used by more than 100,000 college and seminary students, is the editor of this new dictionary, which will become the layperson’s gold standard for biblical word studies.Mounce’s is ideal for the reader with limited or no knowledge of Greek or Hebrew who wants greater insight into the meanings of biblical words to enhance Bible study. It is also the perfect reference for busy pastors needing to quickly get at the heart of a word’s meaning without wading through more technical studies. What makes Mounce’s superior to Vine’s?· The most accurate, in-depth definitions based on the best of modern evangelical scholarship· Both Greek and Hebrew words are found under each English entry (Vine’s separates them)· Employs both Strong’s and G/K numbering systems (Vine’s only uses Strong’s)· Mounce’s accuracy is endorsed by leading scholars

Thomas Aquinas (1224/25–1274) wrote commentaries on the four Gospels by stringing together quotations from the works of Greek and Latin Church Fathers and of later Church writers. Thus a catena (chain) was created, the best-known of all catenae. In the 14th century it was translated into German. Two of the universally treasured magnificent manuscripts with the commentaries on Mark and Luke were considered lost in the last year of the Second World War, but in 1982 they were discovered in Toruń. The present volume contains the edition of the Catena aurea super Lucam, the commentary on Luke.

English summary: Apocrypha are texts that either have the form of biblical texts which became canonical, tell stories about characters in the so called canonical biblical texts or convey the words spoken by these characters. The edition, established by Edgar Hennecke (1865-1951), which was continued by Wilhelm Schneemelcher (1914-2003), is now going to be published in a completely revised seventh edition with many new and formerly unpublished texts. Since it is difficult to isolate those texts among the Christian Apocrypha which refer to the - now canonical - New Testament, this work will include all Christian Apocrypha that were written until the eighth century. It is thus entitled Ancient Christian Apocrypha in a German Translation and will be published in three volumes. Mit Beitragen von: Hans-Gebhard Bethge, Wolfgang A. Bienert, Johanna Brankaer, Bogdan Burtea, Friedmann Eissler, Hans Forster, Jorg Frey, Wolf-Peter Funk, Peter Gemeinhardt, Judith Hartenstein, Otfried Hofius, Maria Josua, Ursula Ulrike Kaiser, Thomas J. English may be the biggest obstacle to learning Greek! Greek textbooks use jargon such as "noun," "verb," "morphology," and "syntax," which sometimes sounds foreign. Many of us may remember them from grade school, but the memories may now be foggy from time and disuse. This book is written for hazy memories of English that need a brush up before learning Greek. Different than other aids to learning Greek, Brushing Up English to Learn Greek introduces verbal aspect to beginning students. English emphasizes the time of an action but Greek emphasizes the point of view--or aspect--of an action. This book helps students build a bridge of understanding between the different thought worlds of English and Greek.
